MBA 546 Principles of Management (3 Credits)

Principles of Management is an introductory course in management. It provides students with an overview of the functions of management and its significant role in society and organizations. Students will be able to better understand management styles, gain a comprehensive understanding of co-workers and of the business environment in general.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain the role of planning, staffing, organizing, leading and controlling in management.
  • Recognize the role of management in modern organizations.
  • Understand the significance of organizational goal setting.
  • Understand the types of decisions made in business, and be familiar with the steps in the decision-making process.
  • Be familiar with the human resource management activities involved in attracting, developing, and maintaining an effective work force.
  • Understand the importance of effective leadership for the success of the organization.
