Ed. D 933- Practicum in Higher Education (4 Credits)

This course provides the student with an opportunity to become familiar with the functions and tasks that administrators perform. Students will create their own Administrative Portfolio/Project that will focus on the different roles that an Administrator participates in an institution of Higher Education.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain hands-on experience on responsibilities of student affairs administrators.
  • Gain significant practical experience by engaging in program development and implementation.
  • Obtain valuable feedback on the development and demonstration of professional skills.
  • Apply theory and research to practical work.
  • Develop and apply skills such as problem solving, collaboration, program planning and implementation, working with student leaders and campus administrators, and evaluation.
  • Gain the opportunity to integrate theory and practice by working side-by-side with a student affairs' professional who will serve as a site mentor.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of the functional areas within student affairs and how those departments contribute to the development of the whole student body.
