BHP 406 Nutrition in Health and Disease (3 Credits)

This course is for students pursuing careers in the health sciences. A survey of the principles of nutrition in health and disease as it applies to the study of the health sciences. Nutrient classes, their functions, sources, deficiency and toxicity symptoms. Practical applications of nutritional knowledge in relationship to well-being, physical activity, weight loss and maintenance. Nutritional needs at different stages of life are discussed. Common food/water illnesses discussed.
