MUS 556 HISTORY OF SACRED MUSIC (3 Credits)

History of Sacred Music is an introductory course about the story of Christian Music from Gregorian chant to the Black Gospel style of Music.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate a basic knowledge of important composers nd works associated to western Sacred Music.
  • To relate understanding of stylistic trends throughout aural ecognition and analysis of representative works.
  • Recognize the different generes of music and trace their evelopment throughout the most important historical periods.
  • Recognize and describe the development of instruments all through music history.
