MEd 612 Teaching and Learning (3 Credits)

The philosophical foundations of society and education are explored in this course and their impact on traditional contemporary theories of education is examined. Schools as institutions, issues affecting teachers, characteristics of learners, current topics related to the teaching profession, and the role of teachers in society are discussed.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand teaching and learning.
  • Trace the major historical events and trends in the establishment of different formal higher education models.
  • Summarize major learning styles. Compare the major tenets of prevailing learning theories and models.
  • Compare and contrast instructional design methods.Analyze the advantages, disadvantages, and specific uses of various instructional methods.
