Ed.D 818 -Student Assessment (4 Credits)

Students will examine current research on performance assessment, teacher-made tests, and standardized tests. Students will look at the differences in informal and formal assessment, as well as formative and summative assessments. The effect of seven kinds of tests on student achievement will be explored. Information on assessment, monitoring instructional effectiveness and the implications for the classroom will be included.

  • Evaluate existing assessment instruments.
  • Assess the criteria for constructing assessment instruments.
  • Evaluate current issues related to assessing student performance.
  • Establish leadership roles and responsibilities in assessing student performance.
  • Learn differences in informal and formal assessment, as well as formative and summative assessments.
  • Understand the effect of seven kinds of tests on student achievement will be explored.
