B.Ed 101 Human Development (3 Credits)

This course provides an overview and analyzes classic and contemporary theoretical approaches in human development. Students will specifically put more attention on research and theories that concern education as a context of human development. The course also focuses on human development in life span perspective.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand what is meant by the study of human development.
  • Define the processes of growth, maturation and learning.
  • Understand how maturation is different from growth, and how learning is different from maturation.
  • Explain what is meant by the nature-nurture controversy in terms of growth, maturation and learning.
  • Understand longitudinal, cross sectional and sequential research methods.
  • Analyze research and theories that concern education as a context of human development.
